- To prevent uniform items being lost we recommend that all items of uniform are clearly labelled on the inside of the garment with your child’s name.
Non-Uniform
On some occasions, pupils may be allowed to wear clothes other than their uniform when at school. This may include:
- non-uniform days to raise money and awareness for charities
- a form of reward,
- to celebrate their birthday,
- at certain times when on school trips.
Whilst this allows pupils the opportunity to express themselves as individuals, it must be done in a way that is appropriate for the school environment. It is particularly important that any pupil dress on these occasions recognises that the school is still a working environment, and further that pupil dress does not cause embarrassment or offence to staff, students and other members of the school community. When not in uniform, therefore, pupils are to follow the non–uniform dress code.
The below dress code may not cover any and all issues that may arise. In such cases, or in the case of a dispute, the Headteacher is the final arbiter of what is and what is not appropriate non-school uniform and their decision is final.
The following rules must be adhered to:
- The usual rules for jewellery and make-up remain in effect for non-uniform days
- Leggings or cycling shorts, if worn, must be worn with a skirt or dress on top
- Shorts, skirts and dresses, if worn, should be at least mid-thigh length
The following items are prohibited:
- See-through clothing e.g. a sheer blouse
- Strapless or ‘string-strapped’ tops
- Clothing which reveals the midriff
- Clothing which reveals underwear
- Flip-flops or backless footwear, due to health and safety issues
- Baseball caps and other casual headwear should not be worn other than during outdoor play or when travelling to and from school
- Clothing with offensive logos or slogans e.g. swear words
- Clothing with overtly political statements or provocative statements that promote political action
Uniform items can be purchased in school from the office, from local supermarkets or at uniform stockists such as Midlands School Wear: https://www.midlandschoolwear.co.uk/collections/robin-hood-primary-school
Should you have any financial concerns regarding uniform, please speak to the school office, our family support worker, or contact Hall Green Families on: 07570 953519 (Operated Monday to Friday 9:30am – 4:30pm)
If a child attends school not wearing school uniform then the school may contact parents/carers so that the correct uniform items can be brought in to school, the pupil may be given an item to borrow for the day, and they may be removed from normal lessons until they are wearing full school uniform.
